by Flook, Flatfish Records (2002)
If you love Celtic progressive folk music, played by the best musicians
in the business, then you will simply love this. It really doesn't get
any better than this - although I said that about their last album (Flatfish
- 1999) too.
Rubai is full of the most wonderful flute and whistle playing from Sarah
Allen, and the playing of the world's greatest Bodhran player (IMHO),
John Joe Kelly just gets better and better. The rhythms are stunning.
The music they make seems simple and effortless, but the inspiration and
beauty from their work together is beyond words. The connections they
produce, the musical imagery they create and the sheer joy they show and
give, is magical. I simply adore this CD, as I do Flatfish too. Get it!
