This little book is one of the best I’ve read on the subject. Catherine
Bowman demonstrates a genuine respect for crystals; definitely not a “coffee
table” glossy full of pretty pictures and little else. There are,
however, a number of useful line drawings and everything you should expect
to find in a book of this type, starting with finding and caring for your
crystals, the importance of regular cleansing and how to programme them
properly. The author reminds the reader of environmental impact of quarrying
for stones – something I have not seen mentioned in very many other
crystal books - and suggests finding an ethical source of crystals, though
this may be difficult as many shops do not know where the crystals were
mined or how much care was taken in obtaining them. Different crystal
formations are explained and there are sections on ways of healing with
stones and how they work; making simple jewellery without harming the
stones; crystal meditations including the various layouts that maybe used,
and how to keep the crystals programmed to help you in your work. Written
in a clear, non-patronising manner this pocket-sized book is as good a
start as any for those wanting to find out more about the practical uses
of crystals, especially for healing.
