Ohn

Gorse FlowersGorse as Ally

Ohn is an amazing shrub. Though she can flower for many months, indeed during any month of the year, most striking and common are the flowers in the winter and grey of early spring, when she shines with her profusion of deep yellow. Because of this she is considered a teacher of optimism, a source of light, luck and blessings. She guides us through the inertia to find new energy and inspiration, weaving into wholeness the jarring of opposing forces, deep rooted and self-assured. When she is defeated there is true sadness. GorseSimilar in appearance to Broom, Gorse has an extreme spiky appearance. Gorse bears yellow, high scented flowers all year round, though they are most profuse in spring. The scent is said to be that of sexual arousal, but is certainly strongly reminiscent of Coconut! With its scent and sunny beauty my relationship with Gorse is one of celebrating my harvest, honouring the bees who visit the flowers of this shrub in their collection of nectar, and so helping create honey and mead! It reminds me that I need to gather in all that I have created, and that what I have is what I must work with. Gorse offers me a moment to still myself to reflect and give thanks. (CC)
