Druid Teachings of the Holy Isle
The Path of Awen, is a year long, direct learning course in Druidry. The course focuses on the teachings of Druidry developed by Kris Hughes of the Anglesey Druid Order, incorporating the wisdom of the ancient texts to gain an understanding of their meaning and application. The course also utilises local lore and Druidic legend as a source of teaching and inspiration together with the teachings of Anglesey’s past Druid teachers. The course focuses on the path of Awen to achieve a deeper connection to the spiritual, connecting individuals to their own source of inspiration and the land. This course provides students with the necessary tools for expressing and practising their Druidry, allowing it to become a part of their lives, enriching them and their tribe. It is an intense course that focuses on both the philosophy and theory of Druidry as well as the practical techniques required for transformation and deep connection. This is Druidry of the heart and of the Land, Druidry of the ancient, historical Holy Isle of Druidry applicable to us in the 21st century. Those who complete the course will be automatically initiated into the Anglesey Druid Order and to the rank of “Awenydd”. Those who complete the course are free to attend any of the ADO’s rites and workshops for the duration of their lives, and may hopefully become fellow teachers and inspirers of the tradition.
Commitment
The Path of Awen course runs from Calan Gaeaf (Samhain, All Hallows) to Calan Gaeaf, meeting eight times within the cycle of the seasons, normally a couple of weeks before each festival, allowing you the time to celebrate the festivals with your own tribe. It is essential that you are able to attend each and every session. However the work does not stop once the weekends are over, you will be required to further study and develop between sessions. This course may not suitable for everyone, and not all applications will be accepted. Places are also very limited.
Venue
Druidry in one form or another has been taught on the Isle of Anglesey for nearly three thousand years and is a place rich in inspiration and connection. The course is held at the Gorsedd Centre in the North of the Island, within a 16 acre nature reserve, that provides solace, tranquillity and a deep sense of “being”. With various, basic, facilities to provide sacred space for teaching and practice and the natural beauty of the surrounding island, it is a truly inspiring place. The accommodation is basic yet comfortable, and you may bring your own tent, tepee, or use our facilities. The course begins at 12 noon on Saturdays until 12 noon on Sundays, your food will be provided for you. Some may choose to want peace and quiet, to unwind before the course, for those, you are very welcome to arrive on the Friday for an additional £5 charge.
Cost
The Anglesey Druid Order does not believe that people should pay the earth for a course which teaches any spiritual tradition, and that it should be accessible and within range of most budgets. However we live in a time where nothing is ever free, including Druidry! We want people to be able to afford our course and our price structure, we believe, offers great value for money. The cost includes all teachings, accommodation at the Gorsedd Centre (in basic facilities mind you!) and your entire food and liquid requirements! Where materials are required for the course, these will be provided for you, you need only bring yourself, a pillow, sleeping bag and a tent if you wish (oh and the odd bottle of mead mightn’t go amiss!!!)
The Cost per weekend is £50 per person, or £400 for the year, payable in any shape or form that suits you, whether it be during each weekend, one lump sum, or a cheque here and a cheque there, either way is fine with us.
