Why Join the Network?

The open pages of The Druid Network website aim to be a rich source of information about modern Druidry and honourable living within the twenty first century. However, one of the most poignant ways in which we can learn more deeply about the tradition, about life and honour, is through connections with other people. Our very nature as human beings is as individuals within a tribe, each of us finding both our own special value and our sense of belonging within the whole. The Druid Network allows members an easy way of accessing the extraordinary well of rich resources that is humanity at its very best: sharing freely.

The Network Database

You may be hoping simply to find other kindred spirits. You may be seeking out a grove, a group with which to share ritual and celebration at the festivals of the year and the festivals of our lives. Our user-friendly search system allows you to have a look. You may have met someone at a camp or conference, only know their first name, and want to send an email just to say Hi; you can seek out a member by tapping in their name. If you were wondering whether there were other members near to where you live, you could search by locality, or have a look in areas through which you will be travelling, or in which you have a particular interest.

You may find yourself with a particular query, need information about a certain myth or sacred spring. You may, for example, want something translated into Welsh, or be seeking a certain piece of medieval flute music. It may be an issue of labyrinths, ritual, ancestry or mead. By using our search system, you could find other members who have just that particular skill or information you need.

Of course, not all members will give all their contact details or personal information. Those who are happy to be contacted, can be, and those who would prefer to stay anonymous can do that too. The Network is there for its members, howsoever they would wish to use it.

Most of the courses, rituals, conference speakers and camp facilitators to be found on the website here are also members of the Network. As a member, you can tap into their personal profile and find out a little more about them before an event or booking a place on a workshop.

The Discussion Forums

As a member you have access to our Network forums. Currently the forums include Contemporary Druidry, The Environment, History and Tradition, The Bardic Tradition, The Ovatic Arts. More forums will come into being as they are requested.

As a members-only discussion arena, it offers the opportunity for in-depth conversations while remaining more secure than an open web list. Everyone who submits messages to the forum is known to the Network office, with any dishonourable interaction potentially resulting in a person losing their membership of the Network as a whole.

What Does it Cost?

We have worked out pricing equivalents around the world, not in terms of currency exchange but in relative cost of living and average adult income. If your region is not here, please let us know.

There are two ways to join: Paper-Free and Postal. The Postal option is currently only available to UK members who have no email address.

Paper-Free Subscription

Paper-free membership gives you access to:

  • members' website area
  • members' shared database
  • members' forum
  • quarterly email newsletter

All correspondence is by email and the cost to the earth is arguably considerably less because of the lack of paper. If you are able to use environmentally-friendly electricity, we are all doing even better.

Western Europe£10€15
North America £12US $22

Postal Subscription

This option is designed for UK members who do not have regular computer or internet access or do not have an email address. In addition to Paper-Free services, postal subscribers receive the quarterly newsletter by post and have the option of postal correspondence with the office and Network staff.

The cost for Postal membership is £12 per year. This is determined as the basic Paper-Free membership, plus part of the cost of the quarterly postal newsletter. In order to keep membership fees down, the Network does not pass all the cost of printing and postage onto Postal members. This, however, is likely to be the amount which changes before any other membership fee.

Reductions for the Disabled

We are happy to be able to offer a reduced price for those who are registered disabled. In Britain this is : £5 Paper-Free and £7 Postal. For rates around the world, please get in touch with the office.

Younger Members

Those wishing to join who are 18 years old and younger should get in touch with our Younger Members Co-ordinator, running the Lightning Tree area of this website: lightning [at] druidnetwork [dot] org. A different membership system works for younger members which is free of charge.

How do I Join?

Select one of the methods from the top of this page.

Otherwise, send an SAE to the office address requesting an application form.

Will my personal information be published?

Only the information you choose to share will be made available to fellow members.

Some members begin anonymously and slowly find the courage to let themselves be known.

How long will it take?

If you are applying on-line with a credit card, it will take 4 - 7 days for your membership and payment to be processed. If you apply by post, and will receive a reply by post, it could take 10 - 14 days. If it takes any longer, we'll explain why.
