Review

There has been an explosion in recent year in the desire for a handfasting ritual when celebrating and honouring a loving relationship. This book offers those considering making such a commitment some beautifully practical advice together with some wonderfully creative ideas for the ritual itself and for the practicalities surrounding the day.

The book begins with a brief background to the history of handfastings before talking through some of the organisational necessities that have to be undertaken. There are a number of themed rituals offered by the author to act as inspiration for the couple, and there are pages of advice on suitable clothing, herbs and for the feast afterwards. In addition Anna gives us some brief words on a number of suitable Gods and Goddesses for lovers to work with.

This is a beautifully poetic yet practical work that will be of use to the celebrant who offers their services to couples, and for couples themselves. It can be used as a basic reference work, and as something to dip into to find seeds of inspiration when creating a handfasting for ourselves or for others.
