Why work for The Druid Network?

The Druid Network aims of sharing inspiration and information are only made possibly by its team of staff, each and every person bringing to the web of the Network their own particular blend of skills, interests and connections.

While the Network's ethos is based upon Druidry as a religious tradition, even for those for whom it is a life philosophy, an ancient wisdom, crucial to its practice are the relationships between the individual, their environment and their ancestors. Each priest and practitioner relates to the landscape in a their own way, each working for a different community of humans, animals, trees, butterflies and wind sprites ... Every relationship is unique. The individual accesses different sources of wisdom, knowing and experience combining in moments of wakeful living, and as a result each person has unique gifts to share.

The Druid Network offers its cauldron for members of the Druid community to pour in their individual gifts. Honouring their diversity, we welcome with open arms all those who are willing to add to the sacred brew, a brew into which others will dip their cup, in search in inspiration and information that will nourish and nurture their own unique paths.

Full Staff Members and Associate Staff Members

There are two ways of contributing, either as a full staff member or as an associate staff member.

Full staff members tend to be project managers or co-ordinators, and work with some autonomy, albeit within the tenets of the Network. Associate staff members are either (a) those who are beginning the process of setting up a project area, as yet unsure how it will pan out, or (b) helping a project co-ordinator or committee member.

For more information, see Structure of the Network.

What are the Terms and Conditions of Working for TDN?

PAYMENT Currently all staff and committee members of The Druid Network work on a voluntary basis. That goes for those folk who are working 30+ hours a week for TDN as well as those who manage 2-3 hours a fortnight. Should that ever change, it will be made widely known. We are currently looking at the best way of covering expenses; when that is settled, our policy will be posted on the site.

APPRECIATION We recognize that nobody working hard on a voluntary basis can ever be thanked enough for the work they do. It is essential that all staff members contribute their time and energy in a way which nourishes them. In other words, staff must work for the inspiration, connections, satisfaction, magic and benefit that the work itself gives them. We, needless to say, do our utmost to ensure that each staff member is actively appreciated and supported as much as we can.

HONOUR In line with its aim of being a holistically Pagan Druid organization, TDN works on the basis of honourable relationships. Honour expressed through truthful, regular and clear communications, and with mutual respect, are fundamental requirements of all staff members. We encourage a staff environment of openness and sharing, without assumptions, hints and unspoken agendas. If there is any sense that this honour has been compromised, the relevant issues will be raised until clarity re-emerges.

RESPECT All staff members are required to use their role with responsibility and respect for the wider international Druid and Pagan communities, other spiritual faith communities and individuals.

MEMBERSHIP Staff are given free Paper-Free membership of TDN for as long as they are actively working for the organization. If they have worked for more than a year, on leaving TDN they will be given a year's complimentary membership as a thank you.

EMAIL We are currently adjusting our policy on staff email addresses, owing to changes necessitated by the intolerable global pollution that is spam. If you have any queries, please let us know.

AUTONOMY While full staff members are responsible for their own project areas, and have freedom to explore and develop ideas, all projects must be in keeping with the key tenets of TDN. Staff are expected to keep other staff and committee members in touch with developments, consulting committee members when it comes to major decisions, notably those which will change the feel of the project area, or involve possible financial or legal issues.

SUPPORT All Network staff are a part of a Care Team, facilitated by a Committee member, who is there to hear any problems, to support and talk when the role becomes difficult for any reason. In this way, the community holds a premise of care. Staff are expected to stay in touch with their Care Team facilitiator who is always available, and will send out a Care Team 'hello' note every three months. NOTE: if a staff member does not respond to their Care Team facilitator over the course of six months, it will be assumed that the staff member does not wish to continue working for the Network.

TACOS What could this mean?! This is an acronym for five essentials that we promote within the staff team. Thanking people for support; Asking for help where needed; Congratulating people on achievements; Offering help to others; and saying Sorry whenever necessary.

CLOSURE In harmony with Pagan Druidry, there is also sought and affirmed clarity with regard to endings. Where any staff member wishes to stop working for TDN, this will be actively supported with honesty and honour. However, all staff who decide to leave are required to maintain responsibility for their projects until they have found someone else to take over for them, or are able to bring the project to a graceful conclusion. Any other course of action must be negotiated with the TDN committee and Head.

Sharing Your Unique Talents

Most people who become staff members of TDN have not applied for a job advertized but sent a proposal to the office with an idea of what they'd like to contribute to TDN. If, having carefully explored the TDN website and made any necessary enquiries, you have an idea about an area you'd like to create, develop or contribute to, please let us know.
